Open Day: De Molen

The replica Molen is the same design as any similar flour Mill in the Netherlands. Plans taken from a 17th century Dutch windmill were used to build the Molen to the same standards in Foxton. You will see ancient build techniques in heavy timbers, 1 tonne grinding stones that produce flour powered solely by the wind. Opened in 2003 the Molen ensures the charm, power and authenticity of days gone by when many mills of varying styles were used across the landscape of New Zealand in the 1800's.

Free entry for the day for Heritage Festival visitors. Koha is welcomed.
