How much does it cost?

Most things at the City Library are free.

There are no charges or overdue fees for Children and Youth items. Currently, most fees and charges are waived. This is in recognition of the impacts and barriers that Covid-19 is continuing to create for whānau.

At this time, we are still charging the following:

Country Memberships: If you live outside the Palmerston North City boundary there are two membership options:

  1. A pay-per-item arrangement of $2 per item.
  2. A subscription option which covers all designated family members. Subscription rates are $60 for 6 months or $120 for 12 months.

Children and Youth (under 18 years of age) with Manawatū District Council addresses are eligible for a free membership. Special arrangements apply to Tokomaru and Ōpiki residents. Please ask one of our team for more details.

Printing: Details are in the Printing FAQ.

Interloans (requesting books from libraries outside of Palmerston North): There is a $5 minimum fee for the Interloan service. If the charges are to be more than $5 we will check with you first before going ahead. Once an Interloan request has been processed, charges will apply even if it is cancelled or not collected.

Blueprint consumables: It is free to use the tools and equipment at Blueprint so long as you bring the materials needed to bring your project to life. There are some cost recovery charges for materials we provide, such as 3D printing filament. Please ask one of the team at Blueprint if you are unsure.

Lost or damaged books: Please speak to one of our team about your lost or damaged item. A replacement and processing fee may be charged to your account.

Programmes and Activities: From time to time there will be a fee for attending activities or programmes. This helps offset costs and allows us to provide you with more amazing programmes. Any cost will be clearly advertised with the programme information.
