Open Day: All Saints Church

Photograph of a gothic revival-style Anglican church in white painted wood and red painted corrugated iron roof. Surrounding the church on two visible sides is a lawn bordered with trees, with two benches and circular flowerbed in the foreground, and concrete path leading around to the unseen side of the building. A driveway and two-storey house are visible on the right.

All Saints Church, built in 1876, celebrates 150 years in November. A clause in the deed authorising construction was that Pationa, son of the chief Taratoa, be buried in the church grounds. The church is built in the Gothic Revival architectural style with much fine detailing in native NZ timber. The 1907 Nicholson and Lord church organ is a notable heritage instrument and is in regular use.
