Delve into intriguing stories from our weird, wonderful, and utterly wild world.
At the library we believe that understanding the world is the first step toward caring for it. That is why we are excited to start our 2026 Science and Environment programme with two environmental discussions by international speakers, designed to bring expert knowledge directly to the community.
Wednesday 25 February, 6:30 – 8pm we have Amanda Flaim and Daniel Ahlquist from Michigan State University, USA discussing River Justice along the Mekong River. They will be joined by Warren Warbrick (Rangitāne) who will bring a local perspective to the discussion.
Thursday 5 March at 6pm we are thrilled to welcome Gabor Lovei, Senior Scientist Emeritus, Aarhus University, Denmark who will take us on an epic wildlife adventure as he discusses The Strange Creatures of Madagascar focusing on the Kirindi Nature Reserve – a treasure of untamed nature. Madagascar, an island country off the coast of Africa, is a hot spot for amazingly diverse animals. You will hear about ring-tailed lemurs, chameleons, insects, and other awesome animals that call the island home.
Not to be missed, everyone is welcome.
