The popular Off the Page Series is launching its 2026 season as part of the Heritage Festival programme. The series will bring a stellar line-up of local, national, and internationally published writers to the Palmerston North City Library.
Off the Page will feature a popular writer, often in conversation with a local chair; talking about their books, the writing life, and much much more. As always, these events will feature book sales and signings, snacks, and stimulating conversation. Everyone is invited and the events are free.
Guests in the series are all acclaimed writers launching new books! They are the very best Aotearoa has to offer. The writers you would pay to see at our national festivals, are free at your home library.
We are thrilled to be launching the 2026 season on Friday 13 March at 6pm, with Dr Lucy O’Hagan discussing her recent memoir Everything But the Medicine: A doctor’s tale, a candid insight into the life and work of a general practitioner.
Please also join us for our first Off the Page workshop for the year Journal Your Life Workshop with Helen Lehndorf on Saturday 14 March 10:30am – 12:30pm. Helen is a local writer and teacher; she is a seasoned journal-keeper and author of journaling book Write to the Centre. Limited workshop numbers - for registrations contact: genny.vella@pncc.govt.nz or 027 292 9965
Then on Sunday 15 March at 5pm award-winning environmental historian and writer Dr Catherine Knight will discuss her latest book An Uncommon land: From a history of enclosure towards a regenerative future with Dr Allanah Ryan.
Don’t miss your chance to dive deep into the mind of some amazing writers, ask your burning questions, and connect with fellow readers.
