A chance find of an unusual Glaxo baby bottle in the Te Manawa collection store prompted Archivist Juliet Galuszka to explore the history of Glaxo and its abandoned factory in Bunnythorpe. Tracing the entrepreneurial vision of Joseph Nathan and his family, this talk traverses the early dairy industry of the region Glaxo’s “bonnie babies”, and how a banana-shaped baby bottle was “the saviour” of non-breast-fed babies at the beginning of the 20th century.
