Sorrowing Mothers Workshop

The Palmerston North War Memorial in Te Marae o Hine – The Square was unveiled 100 years ago, in February 1926. The bronze figure atop the memorial represents sorrowing motherhood. Join other community researchers in using online heritage tools to identify the mothers of people named on the memorial following WWI. These hands-on, drop-in workshops include an introduction to military and civic records. A passion project developed and hosted by THEN – Histories of Pāmutana, in memory of Wilkie Mardon (WWI 7/1635).
