Library Walls Alive!

Kids’ Animation Creations

In partnership with UCOL Workhub, we’re using drawings by local tamariki to light up some of Central Library’s walls.
Our latest series — Kids’ Animation Creations — celebrates our friends over at Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery, by highlighting some of the beautiful native manu (birds) they care for.
Over the Spring 2024 school holiday, we invited some of our city’s littlest artists to showcase their talents by drawing their favourite manu. To bring their visions to life, UCOL’s Workhub ākonga (student) James McDonald transformed the collection of drawings into a vibrant moving animation, playfully capturing the essence of their imagination and spirit.
At night, when all is dark, the giant wall by Central Library’s George Street steps will come to life! And there are even a couple of daytime sessions for you to discover these delightful animations.
