Every August, Aotearoa comes alive with words for National Poetry Day, and this year, Palmerston North City Library is bringing something truly special to our community. We are thrilled to host a two-day celebration on August 28 & 29, packed with food, water, special guests, local voices, and a look back at our 2025/26 literary guests.

Whether you love to read, write, collect postcards or simply sit back and listen, we invite you to step into the creative flow with us.

Poetry Postcard Series

Designed to capture the fleeting magic of live literary events and turning them into lasting keepsakes. Over the last 12 months of our programming, we have partnered with our incredible guest speakers, authors, and visiting poets to create a unique Poetry Postcard Series.

Each postcard features a short poem by the creatives who have graced our spaces and an image to complement the words.

You can collect your poetry postcards directly from the City Library as part of our local celebrations.
