At Central Library there are portable turntables you can borrow if you want to try out a vinyl LP but don't have a player at home.
And now there's a rechargeable portable DVD player too!
The library offers several streaming apps, like Kanopy and Beamafilm, but not everything is available on streaming. So for those titles that are still DVD-only, you can use the portable player and then take out DVDs to watch.
It's also useful if you don't have an internet connection at home, or if you want to watch something without turning a computer on.
Finally, it's an intergenerational rite of passage to watch that cool old 'You wouldn't steal a handbag' ad that's at the start of the older DVDs. Ahhh, those were the days!
Pop in to Central and have a look at the player, and the huge range of DVDs available. You can also place a hold to pick them up at any of our community libraries.
The player is issued for one week, and can be renewed twice if nobody else has a hold on it.
