An evening with Suzanne Lynch

We are excited to be hosting a not to be missed evening with music legend Suzanne Lynch, Monday 1 December, 6pm at the Palmerston North Central Library. Entry is Free – book at genny.vella@pncc.govt.nz or 027 292 9965

Step back into the golden era of Kiwi pop with Suzanne – one half of the iconic sister duo The Chicks and The Ladykillers – to celebrate her memoir Yesterday When I was Young. Suzanne will share stories, from a career that saw her rise to fame in the late 60s, support Cat Stevens on tour, and perform alongside some of the world’s greatest musicians, as told in her new book.

Suzanne Lynch MNZM is one of New Zealand’s most respected vocalists and music mentors. She rose to fame in the 1960s as one half of The Chicks, later launching a successful solo career on TV shows like Happen Inn. In the 1970s, Suzanne moved to the UK, becoming an in-demand session singer for artists such as Cat Stevens, Neil Sedaka, and Charles Aznavour. She toured internationally and recorded extensively. Returning to New Zealand, she became a vocal coach on NZ Idol, Stars In Their Eyes, and NZ’s Got Talent. Today, she continues to teach and perform, including with vocal trio The Lady Killers. Suzanne was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2001. Suzanne’s memoir Yesterday When I Was Young will be out in October.

Her memoir Yesterday When I Was Young is her richly nostalgic journey through a life in music — packed with never-before-seen photos, and the wit and warmth of a true pop diva who’s far from ready to hang up her microphone.

Suzanne will be visiting with Palmerston North-born legend Malcolm McCallum.

Books will be available to purchase from Bruce McKenzie Booksellers on the evening.

Everyone is welcome, so bring your friends and let's have a fun night filled with nostalgia!
