51 Reasons to visit the 51 Threads Exhibition
Palmerston North City Library is honoured to host the 51 Threads Exhibition as it continues to connect people worldwide.
The project was created by Noraini Abbas Milne, mother of 14yr old Sayyad Milne, one of the 51 lives lost in the Christchurch mosque attacks. It weaves together Arabic calligraphy and embroidery with messages of remembrance, peace and strength. It shares stories and explores the healing power of creative expression. Launched during Christchurch's Unity Week, the vision is to connect 51 cities worldwide in unity.
"Each stitch holds a story, each word a memory, this is our way to remember, to connect, and to grow stronger, together." says Noraini.
