Rangitāne o Manawatū and Central Economic Development Agency (CEDA) have worked together to create an innovative interactive map that brings to life the pūrākau (stories), oral histories and historical recreations of life on and around te awa o Manawatū – the Manawatū River.

Celebrating Puanga
This video, created by Rangitāne and Palmerston North City Council, helps explain Puanga and why Puanga is celebrated here in Palmerston North.
Matariki is a time of remembrance, celebration and sharing. For Māori, it marks the beginning of a new year and is a time of coming together as communities and whānau.
Rangitāne o Manawatū traditionally give prominence to Puanga, an important star near the Matariki cluster that can be easier to see in this part of the motu.
