Can I get information from an old newspaper?

Yes, on the second floor of the Central Library you can find local newspapers dating back to 1877 on microfilm and microfiche. Some of these are available online on Papers Past.

You can print or save information to a USB from the microfilms or digital versions of newspapers.

The library has a Manawatū Standard index covering births, deaths, marriages and articles of local historical interest. This can be searched using our library catalogue. Enter your search subject in the 'Search Catalogue' box. Any items relating to your subject will be listed under the 'Local Newspaper' tab.

You can also find national and international newspapers up to 3 months old on Pressreader.
