This year, on 17 July, marks the 90th anniversary of the start of the Spanish Civil War. While Spain is very distant from Aotearoa New Zealand there were small but arguably important associations. This presentation gives life to those links, including how a failed bank robbery in Palmerston North involved a Kiwi who fought in Spain; and how Palmerston North born Geoffrey Cox, a reporter for the London newspaper News Chronicle, was one of the first journalists reporting from Madrid when the war started. Join Trade Unionist John Shennan as he provides a gripping summation of events.
