Slow Celtic Session with Bing Turkby

Bing Turkby of local Celtic band Heavy Blarney leads you through Celtic tunes, veeeeeery slooooowly! Bring whatever instrument you want to play, and as a group we’ll go through the tunes Boys of Bluehill and Harvest Home, bar by bar, over and over, until they become so familiar you can start to speed up. Even if we only get through one or two bars of the first tune, that’s enough to get you started. If there’s enough demand, the slow sessions may become regular events. This approach will prepare you for playing in a proper session, or just give you something you can enjoy playing at home. Meet fellow Celtic music enthusiasts and learn tunes in a friendly, no-pressure environment. All ages welcome.

Book a spot by emailing pncl@pncc.govt.nz. If you're bringing an instrument, let us know that too. We suggest something like a guitar, violin, mandolin, accordion, bouzouki, tin whistle, pet rosella or baguette (we're kidding about the last two).

Bing has even made a quick video of the tunes he'll be using - https://youtu.be/ztfDJllFCOk
