Walkshop: The Peter Black Conservatory - Past and Present

Black-and-white photograph of the interior of a large A-frame greenhouse, with garden beds containing flowers running along the edges of the room and decorative shrubbery taking up the centre. Two women in the left mid-ground look at the camera, while other people at the far-end of the room examine flowers.

Join Professor Emeritus Mike Roche on a short walk to observe some features of the Victoria Esplanade before listening to a commentary on the work of Peter Black, who served as Curator of Reserves from 1908 to 1946, and whose name the conservatory bears. The design and construction of the new lath house frontage will be discussed, followed by information on the backdrop to the bonsai collection on display in the Lath house. After the walkshop there will be time for a self-guided wander through the larger Conservatory.
