Presented by Pou Tiaki Taiao Terry Hapi (Rangitaane o Manawatū) and Grant Kauri (Ngāti Raukawa, Rangitaane o Manawatū, Rangitāne ki Tamaki nui ā rua)

Te Ahu a Turanga: Carving through the heart of our sacred maunga. Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway is a new 11.5km highway being built between Ashhurst and Woodville to replace the closed road through Te Āpiti Manawatū Gorge. For the first time on a major infrastructure project, five iwi are partners in the Alliance building the road, which means they have representation across all levels of the job. Pou Tiaki Terry Hapi and Project spokesperson Grant Kauri will speak about the partnership, the cultural context of the surrounding whenua and how kaitiakitanga and mātauranga Māori are working in unison with western science on Te Ahu a Turanga.
