In composing hand-written letters in the past, people had to carefully consider their thoughts. Listening to those letters can restore the past to us. Professor Emerita Barbara Brookes will speak to why listening to letters has become a global phenomenon and local people will read aloud letters which contrast with the short texts, tweets and soundbites of the modern world.
