Skeptics
https://www.audioculture.co.nz/people/skepticsSkeptics were a polarising post-punk primal scream of a group.
Raw and grinding, their music was industrial in both sound and visual aesthetic. The video for their song AFFCO contained scenes of industrial animal slaughter, and probably turned a few people vegetarian…
The band ran their own venue in Palmy called Snail Clamps, in the building out the back of Square Edge.
Known for their provocative attitude as well as their lofty musical ambition, the death of singer David D’Ath stopped the band in its tracks, so we’ll never know how far they might have gone.
Songs such as Agitator showed that they could juxtapose abrasive electronic elements with achingly poignant passages.
