Gigi Fenster has a Masters and PhD in Creative Writing, and various law degrees. Her first book, The Intentions Book, was a finalist in the New Zealand Post Book Awards and was longlisted for the Commonwealth Prize and the IMPAC Dublin Award. Her second book, Feverish was published in 2018 to critical acclaim.

Gigi teaches Creative Writing at Massey, at Whitireia and at Rimutaka Prison. She is known for her lively, engaging teaching style. She has taken part in various literary festivals, including the Auckland Writers Festival 2018.

This year Gigi spent two weeks as a resident at the Michael King Writers’ Centre in Devonport. She spent the time working on her new book, tentatively called Be Reasonable. This is a work of creative nonfiction that will have appeal to international readers.

The Off the Page Writers series features some of New Zealand’s best writers. Past guests have included Bill Manhire, Elizabeth Knox, Owen Marshall, Fiona Farrell, Dame Fiona Kidman, and Vincent O’Sullivan.

The events are free and open to the public.
