Council's role in heritage protection and management

Overview

Palmerston North has significant heritage buildings and objects protected through section 17 of the District Plan, and through Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. PNCC developed the Natural and Cultural Heritage Incentive Fund to assist heritage building owners ensure the longevity and integrity of heritage buildings in the City. Council also focuses on heritage management and protection, through the Culture and Heritage Plan, and the heritage management plan.
