Fenced off to the public, the resurfacing work will involve a bout of early morning abrasive blasting, which will take place on Monday 15 October between 3am and 7am, weather permitting.

Debbie Duncan, Council’s General Manager - Community says the blasting is part of the ongoing repair work being carried out to parts of the Library building, and is to fix leaks that have developed in the pools.

Monday’s early start will minimise disruption caused by noise and dust to George Street traffic and businesses, and to the Library’s step and ramp access.

Residents on George Street will be advised prior to the work by mail drop.

Mrs Duncan said the work should be completed in the one four-hour session, but is weather dependent. Residents and Library users will be advised of any postponement.

The Paul Dibble sculpture All Creatures Great outside the Library entrance has been wrapped to protect it from the blasting process and other ongoing building work.
