Changes and additions to our electronic resources

September 2008

 The National Library of New Zealand has launched a new catalogue called the New Zealand Libraries' Catalogue (http://nzlc.natlib.govt.nz).
This is free to access and does not required a special login. Please use this instead of the National Bibliographic Database.   More info ...

The What Do I Read Next database is no longer available. It is being replaced by the new Books & Authors database.

Stop the press!  We will have access to BookBrowse for another year, thanks to the kind staff at BookBrowse. 

July 2008

BookBrowse will be unavailable from 1 September 2008 as we are not renewing our subscription to this database. Other databases to use instead: NoveList Readers Advisor, Books & Authors 

The What Do I Read Next database will be unavailable from 1 September 2008. It is being replaced by the new Books & Authors database.   

We have a new readers advisor database - Books & Authors. This can help you decide which book to read next, fiction or non-fiction.

We have added a Guide to evaulating web pages to help you evaluate sites to discover whether they contain useful and reliable information.

Info Guides page added, with information about Sir Edmund Hillary and Hone Tuwhare.

The BookFind-Online database is no longer available to the public. It has been replaced with the BookData-Online database which, due to the authentication method, is only available to staff. Please ask at an Information Desk if you need staff to look something up for you.

The InfoTrac OneFile database has changed it's name to General OneFile.

We have a new subscription database - BookBrowse - A fantastic site that gives reviews and previews of the most exceptional current books, both fiction & nonfiction, and the stories behind the them.

Driving practice on a computer - CD-Drives CD-ROM now available to use in The Basement, and Non-Fiction Zone.

Information about consolidated searching (searching across multiple databases at once) added to our website.

Electronic resources by subject page added to the website.

We have subscribed to the New Zealand Business Who's Who online - this is a well known business directory for New Zealand companies. It is available to use in the Central Library, and at the Ashhurst, Awapuni, Highbury, or Roslyn branch Libraries.
