The end of the month is earmarked for The Great Living Room Book Sale. It is generally our largest event of the year, and this year is on track to continue that tradition.
The sale is an important part of maintaining the library’s collections and other materials. Old stock, or materials that have not been used in a while are cancelled and removed from the shelf to make room for new materials. The Great Living Room Book Sale commences 27 February 2015 at 9.30am, and will be held in the Ground Floor of the Central Library.
Waitangi Day on the 6th of February 2015 marks the 175th anniversary of this important occasion in the history of nationhood. On-the-day celebrations will be held at Te Manawa from 11am. Family friendly fun includes food stalls, games, workshops and activities, and a free concert. A series of events have also been organised around Waitangi Day. These commence with a visit by the authors of the newly released “Tangata Whenua – An Illustrated History”, who are joining us at the Central Library on 3 February 2015.
On 10 February 2015 at 10.30am join us at the Central Library to take part in a workshop to learn more about the Treaty. Places for this session are limited and booking is essential. There are also a number of Treaty sessions specifically designed for young people to choose from.
