How to join

Getting a library card is free, quick and easy!

  • If you have never had a library card before, you can sign up online
  • If you think you may have had a Palmerston North Library card in the past and would like to check, or if you have a Library card but have forgotten your PIN please contact the Library first.

When you come in to collect your card remember to bring:

  • One form of photo identification (e.g. a Driver’s Licence or Passport).
  • Proof of address (e.g. a recent bill or tenancy agreement) — don’t worry if you don’t have this, we can post a form out for you to bring the next time you visit.

If you’re under the age of 17:

  • You’ll need a parent or guardian to sign on your behalf.
  • If you’re in high school, you can sign up with your school photo I.D. We’ll send a letter to your parent/guardian for them to sign.

Don’t live in Palmerston North but would still like to become a member?

  • There’s a charge to borrow items because we’re funded through rates paid to the Palmerston North City Council.
  • If you pay rates to the Palmerston North City Council then you can join with the same privileges as a Palmerston North resident.
