Reserving any item in the library costs $1.00 to place, which you have to pay it even if you forget to collect it. We don’t charge a reserve fee for children’s or youth items, and people with children’s or youth memberships won’t be charged for anything they reserve.
Children’s and Youth books and magazines cost $0.10 everyday they are late back but their DVDs and CDs are a bit more at $0.20 per day they’re overdue. Adult books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs are also $0.20. X-Box and PS3 cost a bit more at $1.50 for each day they are overdue.
The Internet is free for all users of WiFi, but if you want to use our computers for free, you’ll need to be a library member. If you’re not, you can join next time you visit us, or ask a staff member to make you a guest pass. It’ll cost $1.00 for a 30 minute computer or $2.00 for an hour long session.
You can also scan items for free, or do photocopying for $0.10 per black and white A4 or A3 side, $1.50 for a colour A4 or $3.00 for an A3.
Lastly, you can bring in your own books and get us to cover them in library grade protective coverings for $2.50 for a small book or $3.00 for a large one.
Your Library card can be used at any branch of the Palmerston North City Library, even the Library bus!
Bring your Library card with you when you want to issue items – you can use it on the self-service machines or at a service desk.
Library members can have up to twenty items issued to their card at any one time.
Most books are issued for 3 weeks, with magazines and AV items issued for 1 week.
You might like to place a reserve on an item if it’s always out when you visit the library or if it’s on the shelf at a different branch. We’ll let you know when it’s available and hold it for you at a branch of your choosing.
To reserve an item you can sign in to your account and place the reserve yourself, phone us on (06) 351 4100 or ask a staff member the next time you’re at the library.
Reserves cost $1 per item for adults. Reserves are free for children and high school students.
