War Memorial and ANZAC DAY

ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day occurs on April 25 each year. It commemorates all New Zealanders killed in war and also honours returned servicemen and women.

The Palmerston North War Memorial was built in 1926 in The Square, as a monument to local fallen soldiers in World War I. It has subsequently had the war dead of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars added.
