Palmerston North City Library

2008 at the Palmerston North City Library

It has been another busy and exciting year at the Palmerston North City Library.

Highlights for us have included:

  • a brand new branch library in the Highbury/Takaro area - now named "Te Pātikitiki"
  • The C.M.Ross 80th birthday celebration of the fantastic building our Central Library now lives in
  • Our brand-new Stand Up Poetry evenings
  • A fantastic response to the Lunchtime Talks and Writers Read events in association with Massey University
  • Some brilliant musical performances
  • Local History Week and the launch of Pātaka Ipurangi
  • Centrepoint previews on our very own stage
  • New Zealand's biggest storytime and Guitar Hero Amnesty during Library Week
  • Community Reads with 4 great Kiwi authors - Mary McCallum, Shongah Koea, Duncan Sarkies and Jill Trevelyan
  • the rebirth of the Friends of the City Library
  • and now we're finishing up with the always popular Summer Reading Programme for children and youth.

We're looking forward to providing more entertainment, information and inspiration in 2009.
We have some great events already in the planning stages.
