Tukutuku panel
The green background represents youth, growth and Papatuanuku.
The golden Pingao along the bottom represents the shore and the sea. Above that are the footprints of the Pukeko as it comes towards the green growth.
Te PÄtikitiki (flounder) in the centre represents the sea life and sea food which fuels the brain, mind, imagination and dreams.
To either side, near the top, are two rows of single weave which represent those who will benefit from this Library, in their own time, and at their own pace.
Above are the Purapurawhetu (the stars in Heaven) which symbolise achieving the goals we set for ourselves.
On each side of the panel and on the spine of Te PÄtikitiki is the Keikei woven in the Tumatakahuki style; the overlapping wrapped weave on both sides is that which binds us all together.
