The Times Digital Archive (London) 1785-1985

About this eResource

Delivers every page as published, over a 200-year period.

  • The Times was the "world's newspaper of record" and covered all major international historical events from the French Revolution to the Falklands War.

Researchers can search through the complete digital edition of The Times, using keyword searching to retrieve full facsimile images of either a specific article or a complete page.

The entire newspaper is captured, with all:

  • articles
  • editorials
  • advertisements and classifieds
  • illustrations and photos
  • and obituaries

which are divided into categories to facilitate searching.

Results are displayed at the article level and users may view the article or the full page upon which it appeared.

Note that for many years the letter 'f' was used instead of 's' in old-style printing.
