About the Sound and Vision Zone

The Sound and Vision Zone is on the Ground Floor of the Central Library.

Come in for a magical time - indulge your senses, soothe your wallet

What do we have?

  • movies and television shows 
  • a huge variety of music
  • books on music and the performing arts

In Sound and Vision you can:

  • get answers to your questions about music and movies
  • use our piano
  • preview a CD or DVD before you borrow it
  • use our noticeboard to track local events, or promote your own
  • make your own recordings in Beatbooth

You can borrow:

  • DVDs - movies, TV series, music, and more.
  • CDs - includes opera, chamber and ethnic music, soundtracks, blues, jazz, pop, country, sound effects, music for weddings, humour.
  • CD-ROMs - the collection includes many bestselling games, reference titles for adults and a selection of educational resources.

These titles can be reserved if not currently available.

New titles display

A selection of new Sound and Vision titles are put out each Friday morning and remain on display for one week. Borrowers can request these titles in the Library, or online via the Library catalogue.
