Welcome to the senior members of our community

Many of you will be retired and may have more time to enjoy the facilities the Library has to offer. If you are unfamiliar with the layout or would like any assistance, please contact our Seniors' Librarian.

Collections which may be of particular interest to our senior library users include the large print collection and audio books in the Fiction Zone on the 1st Floor.

Should you be unable to come to the Library to select books and don't have friends or family members in town to help out, you may be eligible for our Home Library Service programme.

SeniorNet - a non-profit club offering people aged 50+ the education and knowledge to use computer technology.

National Heart Foundation - promoting heart health for all New Zealanders.

Diabetes New Zealand - information for New Zealanders with diabetes, those at risk and their families.

Alzheimers New Zealand - answers to tough questions on dementia.

Health Information - information provided by the Ministry of Health.

Medline Plus - comprehensive health information provided by the United States National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health.

Retirement Commission -information to help New Zealanders prepare financially for their retirement.

Raising Grandchildren - website of the Grandparents raising Grandchildren CharitableTrust. The Trust's mission is "to provide support to Grandparents who are primary caregivers to grandchildren in difficult circumstances and to ensure fair treatment from the legal and child protection services in New Zealand, in order to stablise and normalise the life of the children involved."

Eldernet -  timely, relevant, and comprehensive information about services that are available for older people. This site includes a database directory of New Zealand rest homes, residential care, retirement villages, home help, community groups, public hospitals and other third age services for seniors.

U3A - University of the Third Age, which is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.
