Festival of Cultures - Lantern Festival and Parade

Festival of Cultures - Lantern Festival and Parade

Celebrate the diversity of Palmerston North's cultures with the 2017 Festival of Cultures. The evening Cultural Lantern Parade marks the beginning of the Festival of Cultures and acknowledges the 'Year of the Rooster'. Enjoy family entertainment and food trucks from 7pm - 9:30pm. Entertainment includes: Chinese Cultural performers, Cuban singer Romulo Castro and The Balkanistas - a large exuberant ensemble of musicians from Wellington reflecting the diverse influences of the Balkans. The parade begins at 8:30pm in The Square, (leaving from front of the stage) and will deliver a taste for the flavour of the attractions to be enjoyed during the festival being held the following two days. Lanterns will again be made by the talented team of Jim and Bridget from REACT (Rangiwahia Environmental Arts Centre Trust). We invite people to make and bring their own lanterns of any shape or size. You can make your own under the instruction of REACT and their team at some lantern making workshops. Details of these will be held prior to the Festival. Times, venues and dates will be posted on Eventfinda soon. Check out our listing for events for the following two days of the festival.
