Local History Week calendar

Another fantastic programme of events for the week has been planned. We have the ever popular talks and walks, along with some new events for 2011.

They include:

  • Home movie screenings
  • Treasures of the Archives tour
  • City Library Art and Architecture tour
  • Join centenarian Peter Leyland, and hear some of his stories of a 'colourful life, well lived'.
  • Make your own memory book of some special aspect of your family history
  • Gaylene Preston: Hear Gaylene Preston's story of telling her family history through film.

We also invite you to:

  • view the exhibitions
  • bring along your family photographs for sharing
  • and have fun participating in the quizzes, for adults and children

See you there!

What were you doing in the 1970s?

You can contribute to Palmerston North’s story by donating photographs and movie footage of Palmerston North.

This year we are particularly seeking images that help us paint a picture of Palmerston North in the 1970s.

Images can be donated or lent to us for copying. Bring them along to the City Archives and tell us the story that goes with them.
