Te Ara Whanui o Te Ao
The phrase, Te Ara Whanui o Te Ao, means "the wide pathway across the world". Through this pathway we provide our community with information from the past, the present and the future.
The logo stands alone as a visual image and also reflects our community and family-based nature. The hand form points the way, establishing the individuality of the logo, while pointing to the idea of humanity as an institution.
The shape below the hand is derived from a piece of folding taniko at the base of a cloak of distinction. Inside this fragment of taniko, which indicates mana, is a curving pathway which may represent the Manawatu River, or a piece of cyber wire.
Below this is an open book, a symbol of the traditional content of a library.
