Latin American Film Festival

The final film in our series of six.  From Mexico, '5 Days Without Nora'. 93 minutes.  Subtitled.  Film in Spanish with English subtitles.

In association with Massey University School of Language Studies.  Supported by PNCC and Creative Communities NZ.

Gold coin donation.

A master Machiavellian-style planner, an elderly woman named Nora, has planned her death, down to the smallest detail, much to the annoyance of her ex-husband José. As a diverse cast of characters, including Nora's narrow-minded sister, her irritable housekeeper and a would-be rabbi begin to gather in her apartment, things get decidedly more complicated. Set in Mexico City's little-seen Jewish community, 5 Days Without Nora is both sweet and sad, and wonderfully textured. Mariana Chenillo's award-winning film is an irresistibly charming comedy that features many memorable characters.

'Paintings from the human archive' - new paintings by Kirsty Porter.

Painted from photographs from her past, Kirsty examines the nature of memory - does she remember the event or does she remember the photograph? A crystalline ooze appears in throughout the paintings, drawing our attention to the potent life force of each scenario.

April 24 - May 11,
Events Central, Ground Floor.
