The end of February is earmarked for The Great Living Room Book Sale. It is generally our largest event of the year, and this year is on track to continue that tradition.
The sale is an important part of maintaining the library’s collections and other materials. Old stock, or materials that have not been used in a while are cancelled and removed from the shelf to make room for new materials.
Content Manager Shannon Simpson says “While there are no hard and fast rules for determining when to remove items there are some well established principles and practices that libraries all around the world use to manage collections. The items in our sale are made up of cancelled library materials, some donated materials including fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, and children’s items. DVDs and CDs will also be on sale”.
The Great Living Room Book Sale commences 27 February 2015 at 9.30am and will be held in the Ground Floor of the Central Library.
