Kiwi music

Contemporary Kiwi music is a key focus of the Library’s collection.

As well as standards by internationally known bands such as Crowded House, The Datsuns or Evermore, we have local artists Hellborne and Grayson Gilmour (or even the library’s own Bing Turkby and Venus Vulture), as well as some local compilations like Organic Sounds from the Swamp.

We also have a range of traditional Kiwi music, including Maori songs and pioneer folk music, as well as a range of classical music by renowned New Zealanders such as Jack Body and Douglas Lilburn.
