Each Zone has an Advisory desk where you can ask for help.

Zones

The Central Library is organised into six Zones:

Children's Zone, First floor

Fiction and Literature Zone, First floor

New Zealand and Pacific Islands Zone, Second floor

Non Fiction Zone, First floor

Sound and Vision Zone, Ground floor
Youth Zone, Ground floor

And in addition the Ian Matheson City Archives, Ground floor.

The Zones are arranged into Living Rooms according to subject matter.

If the library doesn’t own the item you want to borrow, we can sometimes request it from another library – this is called an inter-library loan (interloan).

Alternatively you can suggest we purchase a copy for the library collection.
